New Good Publication Practice for Communicating Company-Sponsored Medical Research
A new guidance document for the publication of company-sponsored medical research, has been published online today by the Annals of Internal Medicine. Termed Good Publication Practice 3 (GPP3) the full article describing the guidelines can be accessed at the URL provided below. GPP3 is an update of the original Good Publication Practice (GPP) guidelines, which were originally published in 2003 and updated for the first time in 2009.
In support of GPP3, the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals has also set up a page dedicated to the guidelines. The new guideline includes sections on data sharing, studies that should be published and plagiarism that were not adequately covered in earlier versions. It also expands on the criteria for authorship and author payment/reimbursement as well as provifding additional information on the role of medical writers.
